Srinagar: The Week-long National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Deep Learning and its Applications” was inaugurated at Amar Singh College, here today.
The programme is organised by the College in collaboration with E&ICT Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee Supported by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
Vice-Chancelleor, Cluster University Srinagar, Dr. Shiekh Javed was the Chief Guest and Dr. Partha Pratim Roy, from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Roorkee was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Among others Registrar, Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. Abdul Hameed; Dean Academic Affairs, Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. M.Y. Peerzada, President, College Teachers Association, Prof. Tariq Ashai and the senior faculty of Amar Singh College.
The programme was also attended by Technical Expert from Devarthy Technologies, Industry Partner, Bande Nawaz Bagwan, scholars, teachers and students from diverse fields.
The week-long programme is being coordinated by Prof. Syed Ishfaq Manzoor and Dr. Syed Mutahar Aaqib from the Department of Computer Sciences.
Principal Amar Singh College and Programme Director, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather addressing the gathering highlighted need of organizing such programmes and importance of Deep Learning in contemporary technological world.
The Keynote Address was presented by Dr. Partha Pratim Roy who spoke about emerging trends in Machine Learning and Deep Learning. He also presented detailed presentation regarding various facets of Deep Learning and contemporary use of Aritificial Intelligence in Pattern Recognition, Autonomous Self-driven Vehicles, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Medical-Image Processing, Computer Human-Interaction, Machine Translation and EEG-based Brain-Computer Interfaces.
Earlier, the introductory address was presented by the Programme Co-ordinator, Dr. Syed Mutahhar Aaqib, who introduced the theme, structure, outcomes and relevance of the Programme.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by the students of the college Syeda Asma Hossieni and Malik Moin Abbas.
The function concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Programme Co-ordinator, Syed Ishfaq Manzoor.
